Hey, guys and girls
So ive been in the realistic side of games for a while now but now I want to start doing cartoon style games but wondering what is the best place to start with learning how to make cartoon style texturing. I have modo/zbrush and photoshop also Ddo but I dont know if Ddo would be any good with cartoon texturing.
Where would you start and if so are there many tutorials out there about texturing cartoon style looks?
Thanks
DDO and even things like physically based rendering can be used for cartoon/stylized effects. You just need to tone down the detail and work with larger shapes for the most part. " Give the impression of detail without deliberately spelling it out". Same deal with the model.
Is there a particular cartoon style you’re leaning towards? Depending on the look and the game engine’s rendering capability, there’s different approaches you might have to use. Texturing for something that is cell-shaded can be different than one of the softer styled Disney characters in Kingdom Hearts, etc.
