Here is a little project I did to make my first step into the wonderful world of 3D printing. I leave you some work in progress. If you like or not let me know. The 3D printing was carried out with the Dremel idea builder. This is really my first 3D printing. I made some mistake especially on the part orientation. I’ll post another picture of the project after some test to improve quality of the surface (sanding). Oh!!! I forgot the concept is not mine.It was created by an artist that I love: Peter Koning his website here http://www.theartofpeterkonig.com/
A +
I managed to find a little time to do the post process of my crocodile and finally paint it. So here is the result. I made several mistakes and learned a lot for the next project. Whether on the orientation of parts for printing on a fdm printer. I should have created the teeth and eyes apart and then stick them! Comments and reviews are welcome.
Nice print. I just got the Dremel printer myself, but have yet to print anything yet. Reading as much as I can re: FDM printing. What size is your final print? What do’s and don’ts did you learn? How much post processing/cleanup was involved?
To make a quick tour of what I learned to project, you have to pay attention to the orientation of the front piece of the print. It is imperative to use simplify 3D to get the best of the dremel idea builder. The model is about 6 inches by 5 inches by 5 inches. I have not followed Joseph Drust’s process with his headset project for the basecoat. I did a sandblast a little by hand and with power tools. Then I used car primer (joseph drust technic) for the primer and get a uniform surface. For painting, I used cheap acrylic that I apply by brush.
nice work! 3d printing is really a great world.
Thanks for the comments
