This project is a fan art illustration of Captain Crow, a character from the film The Sea Beast. He is a sea monster hunter, and he especially caught my attention because of his strong personality, imposing presence, and distinctive silhouette.
My goal with this piece was to capture the character’s determination and personality while reinforcing the visual storytelling through lighting, composition, and atmosphere. The pose is not particularly dynamic, but it is designed to bring drama and presence to the character, emphasizing his authority and experience as a hunter of sea creatures.
One of the main objectives of this project was to experiment with sculpting detailed surfaces on the model, aiming to create rich surface information that would later allow me to produce more interesting and believable textures. I focused especially on small details in the clothing, materials, and wear so that the sculpt could serve as a strong base for the texturing process.
During the process, I explored different design ideas to highlight elements such as the costume, textures, and accessories that help define the character. I also paid special attention to the lighting and color palette to enhance the cinematic feel of the illustration.
This project allowed me to practice character expression, stylized design, and visual impact within a single image, while also paying tribute to a character I find particularly interesting.

Software used: ZBrush, Maya, Substance 3D Painter, Photoshop and Natron.
