Canvas / Model Zoom Problem

something strange seems to be happening when I have the canvas zoomed in.

When I zoom in on the canvas so it fills the screen better all is well but as soon as I zoom out on the model the canvas zooms out aswell returing to its original size.

Is there any solution to this?

change the actual document size
document>H and W, then click Resize. Turn off Pro if needed

Careful though, this can’t be undone, and the bigger the canvas, the more RAM you need.

Thats the reason I would rather have it zoomed than resized. I dont mind a bit of pixelation to save ram.

Actually, it’s not entirely true about the RAM. The question is, are you painting the canvas or sculpting a model?

If you’re sculpting a model, then the RAM requirement is negligible. You’re not going to be resizing the canvas larger than the available screen space, and there’s no difference in RAM requirement in this situation because the RAM requirement is the same for your model regardless of how large the canvas is.

The only time canvas size significantly impacts RAM is when you’re actually painting on it.

Hmm. I didn’t know that.

Why do I see significant slowdown when I scale up the Canvas? I work on a 30" and having the canvas at 960 is kind of a bummer.

Hmm. I’ll have to play with it and see.

Yeah, I wouldn’t say that was my experience. Just creating a large canvas can swallow up memory and on my limited system I know not to even attempt a canvas larger than about 2K.

If I understand correctly, ZBrush reserves 3D space in proportion to the canvas size. The larger the size, the more depth before the clipping plane. Z depth is a sort of loop, roughly 32K pixols long. You can keep moving stuff forward, it will disappear and then eventually reappear from behind the clipping plane.

agreed, i have a zsphere model with maybe 120 spheres you try scaling that up to work in close and it just won’t even move.
nice to know about the zdepth marcus, thanks.

Thanks aurick! I am only sculpting not painting so that should solve that

ZB4 will have an infinate zoom, it wlill zoom zoom zoom.
