Can't use dynamesh or remesher, running out of memory, crashing.

In the last few days I’ve ran into various problems:

  1. Can’t dynamesh a mesh
  2. Can’t remesh with remesher after drawing out curves (error encountered: can’t remesh)
  3. ZBrush crashed a few times on a different model when I tried to change the amount of symmetry points from 8 to 16 in active symmetry.

The number of polys on the first two instances is only 300k

The third instance (above) the model is about 500k polys

How do I check to see if ZBrush is properly setup for my machine?

My computer is brand new:
i7 proc
16 gigs ram
windows 7

Any help is appreciated,

Matt

What version of Windows 7 and what version of ZBrush?
What kind of mesh/curve? Did you delete the curve?

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the response.

ZBrush4r5
Windows 7 Professional Service pack 1

Sorry, still learning the lingo it wasn’t curves that were drawn it was the reMesher guides.

I used the Mesh Integrity settings to clean up the dynamesh and then reran qReMesher and it worked. I’ve ran qReMesher on several different models without problems. I just jumped in to ZB to check the radial symmetry problems and clicked on xyz and r and increasing radial count, all with no problems.

I think Windows did an update during one of the shutdowns during the last day or so.

I’d still like to know how to figure out the optimum settings for my machine. So if you have any thoughts there it would be greatly appreciated.

Optimal ZBrush Mem Settings.

Awesome thanks for the link.
