Can't turn off transparency when topologizing?

Hi fellow ZBrushers!

I really like this forum. So far you have always helped me with the learning curve for this fantastic program. Now I need your guidance again. I use 4R6, and I can’t find any solution on how to deactivate the dreadful transparency when doing retopology via zSphere. I can’t for the life of me grasp why Pixologic decided to display the underlying high res mesh with transparency. You really don’t have any use for it? But more importantly, it makes manual topology a pain, when dealing with intricate details and tight areas, as it seems to want to connect polies THROUGH the model/mesh. I love ZBrush, but i really loathe this darn “function” and I can’t find any way to turn it off? :o

You can try adjusting the preferences: draw settings to see if a different value works better for you. A grayish material/active color can also go a long ways in hiding the occluded wires from the eye as well, assuming you’re getting the proper appearance of a light gray wire on the backfaces (the occasional person has gotten full bright-orange colored wires everywhere)

That’s what I get when I google the question… but thanks, it might help a little. Still, is there really no way to turn that off completely? I wonder why Pixologic decided to set it up this way. It just doesn’t make sense

Its probably a requirement: if the source mesh were to remain opaque and the new topology is snapped to it, there could be some visual interference.

Most modelers seem to agree though that it is very distracting. Also, it is very annoying that the vertices snap to vertices on the other side, if you’re not very carefull… :td:
