I don’t know what would be causing this. According to the steps that you listed you should be able to reconstruct. I’ve been completely unable to duplicate your results in 3.5 R3. Which version are you using?
this is my .obj file thx again. i think it must be something wrong with my .obj or its a bug

Very strange. On my computer, I was able to get one reconstruction but it then failed to reconstruct the third level. I’m going to have to check with the team to see if they have any thoughts.
it works, if you cut it in half, i’m guessing zbrush doesn’t know where to start the last reconstruct.
you can reconstruct one half all the way down. store a morph target, mirror, then do morph difference, you should then have a full shell but will need to delete the extra polygroup.
Quick question for you. how was this OBJ made. What I mean by that is did you make this in another application or did you do something like, Import a full body into Maya then deleted all the faces that you did not need to make this a shirt?
it doesn’t work for me either.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why.
I was thinking maybe it needed UV’s like with 3.1 but giving it UV’s doesn’t change a thing.
I’m stumped on this one as well.
Hopefully we hear back from Aurick or another Mod so we can all avoid this happening
I don’t know why it affects the reconstruct but I think it’s a vertex order problem. If you mirror the mesh then it will reconstruct OK.
this tool also cant be reconstructed. this basic model made in Max.build from a cylinder
