Can't Move Re-Topologized Vertices...

Hi there. I’m learning ZBrush’s retopology techniques as I follow Scott Spencer’s new book, ZBrush Character Creation: Advanced Digital Sculpting, from the beginning, sculpting a door knocker -as the Lion’s Head exercise from chapter 1 of this amazing book… but with my personal interpretation, of course…

I’m also learning the retopology techniques that he covers on chapter 7 simultaneously, since it is a technique that I will be usinf from now on…

Everything is going well, so far. I just hit a small bump, and was wondering if anyone would have a suggestion…

I followed he retopology techniques from the book, the forum (Topology & Flow Lab,) and from the visions I get at night. I’m able to save the ZTool, re-loading it into ZBrush, with the ZSphere-wires, but now I can’t seem to be able to move them (using W for the move.) I can add additional polygons (by drawing hem with Q,) and move those, but not the ones I had previously drawn.

Question: How have the ZSpheres (retopology-cage,) become locked, but not the new ones?..

I’ve attached three pics to explain my problems:

Thanks for your help,

Escorpion

I am working on this as well.
Have a look here http://www.pixolator.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=44876&highlight=topo

Extra Info: sometimes certain points won’t move at all. Chances are you have accidently masked them. (you can’t see this) Unmasking the points makes them move again. (Thomas Mahler)

Sorry I dont have as much time to respond. Day job.

There’s a chance the zpheres have become masked (you can’t actually see this when it happens). Simply trying going into edit mode and unmasking everything, then try moving them again. It’s worked for me in the past =]

Thanks Hardtwist!! It worked. I did have the vertices (ZSpheres,) masked. I did a Ctrl + Shift + a, cleared the mask, and I can move them!

I never got to read the entire Topology & Flow Lab link, got tooo excited about the opportunities, and since I have the attention span of an ashtray… But I will do now!

Thanks again!!

Your welcome. Topology is right at the top of my learning list. The book is a big help.

I like what you have done with the door knocker. Very cool.:+1: I havent had time to get into it yet. I hope to soon.
