Can't make a hard surface object

I want to create a hard surface object so I tried to create one using the “Almost Boolean” tutorial that matvara provided.

I wanted this to be a closed object… as you can see from my results, I was not successful. Any thoughts on how to resolve the problem?

my workflow…

  1. I made a 3d cube and and adjusted the parameters in initialize to make the general shape needed.

  2. Then I masked the desired “trim” area on both sides of the object.

  3. Next I hid the points after inverting the mask

  4. Last, tried to make a unified skin. It tells me the I cannot do that however. I tried to make a polymesh of it (desperate move) but it didn’t work.

Instead, take the cube and make it into a polymesh. Then simply divide, mask and hide, and delete hidden. You’ll now have the exact shape as a polymesh object.

If you wish to give it thickness you could instead divide, mask, invert the mask and then use Extract.

Aurick - I tried your methods but I ended up with the same results, when using the 3d cube. But when I switched to the image plane it worked great. All I had to do was inflate it in deformation. Thanks!
