hi all, I have a problem installing zBrush3 in WIN XP
on Parallels Desktop in a MacBookPro. When I tryed to install it says: ““Error 1606. Could not access network location \.PSF\.Home\Documents.””
I have full access to that folder.
Can anybody help me with this?
Somebody know why is this happening?
How can I fix this?
Thanks for your help
First, are you booted into Parallels before doing the install?
Second, are you installing to or from a network drive? ZBrush must be installed locally, and the installer should be on a local drive when you run it.
You probably need to set up a real partition as a WinXP disk first. I installed BootCamp with WinXp and then used Parallels with the BootCamp partition which is the Windoze ‘C’ drive. Zbrush will run from a hardware boot into WinXP via BootCamp and will also run from a hardware boot into MacOS under Parallels since it remains on the ‘C’ drive is was originally installed upon.
Thank you Aurick and Acmepixell for your sugestions, but wasn’t that. Fortunately I got it to work. I’ll describe all for anybody who may happened the same.
Resumed version: always install the “recomended installation option” and install “Parallels tools”.
Extended version: In the begining, I installed Parallels. Then installed WinXP in “recomended installation option”. But because I didn’t find the Mac shared folders, I think something was wrong and installed it again, another virtual machine. But this time I went for a “custom instalation” and I focused on this installed custom virtual machine… But I continue to not-see any Mac disk. I start asking friends and forum. A friend told me that I wasn’t seeing the shared folders because “Parallels tools” was not installed. So, I installed “Parallels tools”. Finally I start to see the shared folders (where zBrush installer was) and start installing it. At this point it says what I told you (Error 1606. Could not access network location
\.PSF\.Home\Documents.) and stop installing. At his time I got Aurick’s post and tryed what he says. Not working. Then I decided to give a try to the other virtual machine I made (“recomended” instalation) and tryed to install zBrush in it… and suddenly it works!!!
I don’t know why but the custom instalation was not good in some way. You must to go with the “recomended” instalation and install “Parallels tools”. That’s it.
disable your shared folders and then install. You should be able to install fine and then re-enable your shares afterward. to disable/re-enable you should be able to do it from the Devices > Shared Folders > Disconnect All menu options. you can also right click on the small folder icon in the lower right corner of your parallels desktop window.

I don’t know what happened, but every time I try to install Zbrushes 30 day trail version on my mac,it will just open in–> (TextEditor) and I get just a bunch of text?
Im not sure what to do Im new to macs and was wondering do I need something to install it? or is this version only for PC?
Any help would be much appreciated

The trial version is currently PC only. A Mac trial will be released shortly after the Mac version of ZBrush 3 comes out.
