can't get micromesh to work

I am using the most up to date version for zbrush, and am somewhat new to the program over all.

I have never used micromesh before, and went through the video tutorial. I think I am doing everything it says to do, but when I render, I just see the repeated object as a texture map on polygons, not the actual object replacing the polygons.

I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong. I even made sure the button was selected for “draw micromesh” or something like that.

Ulitmately, I want to be able to populate a model with a bunch of another model using this method, and then convert it to a real mesh that I can use for 3D printing.

Please help.

Thanks!

Lincoln

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks for any help,

Lincoln

I’m having the same issue, did you find a solution?

No. No one ever responded to my request for help. When I called tech support, they told me to ask about it here. Yet, as I mentioned, no one offed a solution here. So, I gave up using that function. :frowning:

Did you convert BPR to geo?

Hey man, I think I found out our problem!
Apparently micromeshes have a poly-count limit, which I don’t know if it depends on the amount of ram you have or if it’s a setting of the program. The mesh I was trying to use as a micromesh was about 2milion polys, and it didn’t work. When I tried to use a lower subdivision level of the same mesh, it worked!
I was a little bit over the 500k when I managed to make it showup. Let me know if it works for you too
