Can't get Auto Masking to work (ZB 4) (answered)

None of the Auto Masking features in the Brush Palette seem to work anymore (eg, backface, directional, cavity). Is there some new way to turn them on that I don’t know about?

I’m using ZB4 on OSX

I believe there is another thread saying the same. Doesn’t work for me either on OSX.

Oh man. That sucks.

I use Backface Masking a lot (otherwise sculpting goes right through thin meshes like clothing and stuff) and the polypainting without Cavity Auto Masking wont be much fun either.

Had any response from the support staff on this one yet?

Auto masking doesn’t working at all.
My guess is that’s coming from the addition of the topology masking…

Automasking dont working in Zbrush4.0 ? i can’t make it to work.

This is a known issue. However the options in the Tool>Masking palette work OK.

Looking for advice form the modeling experts.
What are some ways to model and get around this problem for now?
My guess would be to make very thin cubes and mask one side…?

Is there a compiled list of known errors for mac users? I have these same issues and a few more, including alpha roll. At first I thought it was my graphics card, but obviously there is more to it. Have you guys come across any other issues? Has pixologic given an ETA on when some of these issues might be addressed by?

would love to get a small patch for this… it’s all I want from zbrush atm. Thanks!
