Cannot output zmapper and get any results...

I am using zbrush on windows that is itself running in emulation, via VMWare Fusion on a very new intel mac.

I’ve really enjoyed zbrush until it came time to output a displacement map. I am using the zmapper plugin and the results are abysmal. I get either nothing or a map that just blows up my mesh. I have researched all the settings/quick codes but nothing helps.

I use MAYA on the OSX side (not in windows). I have taken the zbrush .tiff files and converted them to .map files with the TOI Texture Tools mel script (it calls imf_copy outside of MAYA). The .map files are there but don’t seem to add any displament. Can anyone suggest a way to get this to work?

Is it possible that VMWare fusion’s emulation isn’t letting windows really work?

ZMapper is for creating normal maps. That’s not at all the same as a displacement map. You should create your displacement map using the Tool>Displacement Map menu. Instructions are found in the online documentation. See my signature.

I’m sorry, you are quite correct. I meant multidisplacement 3. The problem persists.
