Can you re-Dynamesh a decimated model?

I’m trying to place a hole in a decimated model for 3d printing which i didn’t think i needed until after I decimated it and the only way I found to make a hole is to do this is by Dynamesh. The problem I’m having is when i re-dynamesh the decimated model it shatters into a triangle explosion of a mess. Is there a work around, like how can i make a hole in a decimated model? Or are there any other avenues I can take?

try live booleans

I’ve tried that but I get an error message of: Every subtool must be a valid solid, without any non-manifold edge nor degenerated face.

You can’t 3d print a mesh with manifold errors.

Try using “close holes” on your meshes.
