Can Someone Help Me with Photo Texturing?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDNv_dkUxlU&feature=related

I’m trying to follow the tutorial above and having some success, despite the language barrier and being a new zbrush user. Let me tell you where I’m running into trouble and where I think the problem may be.

I have my head model.obj, and I get to the part where I edit in photoshop with a picture, and all is well until I pick it back up inside of z brush.

When I pick it back up, the “texture” shows up, because the head changes color from the fast shader/silver color, to the color of the skin in photoshop. (the picture) However, it must not be “sized” right because it does not show up correctly. The only way I know how to explain is this: Imagine the planet Jupiter. Big, Round, and lots of GAS all around the planet. That’s what my head obj looks like when I pick it up inside of Zbrush. It DOES change color to the skin color like in my picture inside of photoshop, but it can’t be sized correctly.

In the begining of the tutorial above, he changes a few settings, and I can hear him say “photoshop”, but I can’t figure it out. He changes 2 things. One is from the drop down menu Documents, and the other is Texture. He is changing the size, but to what? Please help. Thank you.

Could you show a picture of what’s happening?

Have you tried toggling the Draw>Persp switch? From your description, it sounds like perspective is causing a problem. Turning perspective off would fix that.

First, my appologies for posting in the wrong forum to begin with. Second, I am going to try the tutorial again…I believe I may have missed a step.
Third, if I don’t get it right this time, I’ll post a picture however, I believe it has something do with the size of the FLAT 2d picture that I am trying to “wrap” around a 3d head. The reason I believe this is because when I pick my work up from photoshop (after first dropping it into photoshop via zapplink) I can make out color variations on the 3d mesh. For instance, I can see red> her lipstick> but it is stretched all over the whole 3d head.

I’ll play around with it some more. I’ll get it. Wish the tut was in english but I’ll live. If I don’t get it figured out, I’ll report back.

I figured it out. It was exactly what I had a hunch of. Whenever you do a new document, you gotta set the resolution to whatever the 2 d photo is that you want to use. Same with texture size. Then when you re-enter zbrush, and apply all edits, it looks right. More importantly, when you pick it up in projection master it looks good as well.

Well, maybe “good” is too strong, hehe, but I know at least I’m on the right track now. Will post follow up pic of WIP.
