can I use another subtool as a mask?

Hi all,
is it possible to use a subtool as a mask?
Application:
I have a belt that wraps around a torso of a character
Is there a way while I’m modeling the torso to designate the belt as geometry that will collide against the torso
geometry so I can easily model the “bluges” where the belt is tight against the torso

I realize that if it were one subtool (belt and torso) I could use polygroups to do this - but here they are separate subtools.

thanks for any suggestions

hi, you could try merging the two subtools. There you can auto mask by polygroups in brush pallet. Move topological brush works well for this too, I mean by ignoring the brush radius falloff and only moving the piece you stroke.

I had a thought while reading this… how about the Matchmaking brush, I think its called? the one that morphs a subtool to make the geometry of a surface? you can sculpt the bulges then matchmake the belt subtool to conform with the bulge.
