can i adjust the symmetry axis?

I have a model that i built in 3dsmax and imported as an OBJ (of course) into zbrush. i turn on symmetry across the X axis when i go to sculpt. the problem is, zbrush thinks the X axis is in a different spot from where it should be.

Is there a way to adjust where zbrush thinks the axis is? or does anyone know another method to fix this problem?

i saw a zscript that fixed symmetry for a zsphere object, will that work for this aswell?

thanks in advance if you were replying. i searched the forums before but didnt’ find anything. i tried again with different tags and found a thread that applied.

It looks like your model exported from your other app with world coordinates. So your model itself may be symmetrical, but the model is slightly offset which in turn affects everything in ZBrush.

If you can’t adjust the export settings in your other app, a pretty easy alternate is possible in ZBrush: Click the Transform>S.Pivot button. This sets the pivot point for the model to be the center of the visible mesh. That in turn affects the symmetry calculations. When you’re all done you can press C.Pivot to return to what you originally imported. That way it will export with the original coordinate system, returning to your other app in the original position.
