Camera jump with wacom

Hello,

I am using a wacom intous 4 tablet in zbrush 4, and when I am modelling with the standard brush, pressing alt to decrease mass, sometimes the camera decides to jump by itself to a zoomed out view.

Does anyone know why this is happening?
Is there any way to prevent this from happening?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I have this problem too. I just deal with it. You can also adjust wacom sensitivity in preferences. I dont know if that will help or not.

This is related to the use of ALT as a means to move and zoom in combination with the pen, or the left mouse button. It bothers alot of people.

The best solution is to be mindful to always release the pen from the surface BEFORE you release the alt button. (since alt with pen down, then release alt and continue to hold pen down/LMB down will put you in zoom mode). If you can make this a new habit I think you won’t be plagued by this feature anymore.

I’ve read a number of complaints about the inadvertant zooming problem and since you can’t snap back by ctl z/undo its a really “in the zone” killer. And my instinct is to quickly hit ctl z which causes me to undo my last stroke, which is NOT what I want.

Something else that might be contributing to your problems:

Theres an option in the Preferences palette in the Edit subpalette called “Auto Select Subtool”

With this turned on when you hold down alt and click on any subtool, it automagically becomes the active subtool (pretty handy overall, but you can also press “n” for a brushtool-like menu of your subtools to choose from).

Tied into this alt-click select subtool feature is another feature: Alt click in an open area on the canvas to FRAME your selected subtool.

If you have this feature turned on, its very easy to alt click on the canvas without thinking and BAM you’ve lost your position and framed you subtool…very annoying. So try turn it off and see if things improve for you.

Thank you very much for your contribution to help me on this question.

I tried to adjust the wacom sensitivity, but that did not help.

I tried to deactivate the “Auto Select Subtool” and it seems to actually have solved my problem.

I found a similar problem when using the smoothing command as I was pressing the shift key, and drawing with my pen on the model. Occasionally the camera would zoom in further towards the model.

This seems to also have been connected to the “Auto Select Subtool” as it looks like the problem have disappeared after deactivating the feature.

I will reply to this thread again if the problem comes back.

If it does not, thank you very much for the help again, as it was much appreciated.

I too have this problem. I turned off Auto Select Subtool, and while that did make the problem happen less, it does still happen sometimes when I move my cursor back and forth over the mesh while holding shift.

I read another post somewhere that said to deactivate Right Click Navigation (Which is under Preferences -> Interface). Again this helped fix some similar issues, but it still persists although is less frequent.
