Bump to Normal map?

Hello.

I’ve beem trying to include a bump map i created into a normal map, but it does not seem to work.
What i do is convert the bump map to an aplha, create a blank texture, increase the intensity value in the “dissplacement” menu of the tool palete, so that the bump is visible on the model.
I then go into Zmapper and perform the regular procedure of creating the normal map, but the bump map details are not inluded.
Am i doing something wrong?

This is a known issue for ZBrush 3.

Since Z3 supports higher poly counts than Z2, you might try the following:

  1. Sculpt your model.
  2. Divide the model as far as your system will allow.
  3. Load the bump map into the Alpha palette.
  4. Use Tool>Masking>Mask by Alpha.
  5. Use Tool>Deformation>Inflate to convert the alpha into high level detail.
  6. Unmask and create your normal map.

Thanks for your reply.

I didn’t kow it cannot be done in v3, since i had done in v2.
That’s to bad that, many features working in Zbrush 2 don’t work anymore in v3.

Thanks again.
