Hey guys,
I took everyone’s advice and tried to make my concept alien more anatomically pleasing. I tried to segment the legs more and such. Unfortunately projection manager would not let me texture it right, it would give me weird results, so I just froze the tool in a position and then used the brush tool to texure it with two or three textures. Let me know what you think guys. I want this to be my first portfolio piece. Do I maybe need an environment in this still image or different colors on the creature?

Personaly I would make the first limb of the legs a bit longer and show some kind of joint at the base of the body where the legs attatch. I also would try to make each joint look like they are more movable.

I like these legs in this pic.

Hopefully your get a bit more responce and help than you have so far.:+1:

nice work :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

i would give more color variations to the texture (but on a larg scale, not the ditales. they are just fine)

Unfortunately Projection Master does not like this model, and does not operate properly when I texture this model, so I just painted this texture on the model when it was frozen. I tried to give it a more shiny, slimy, alien type look. I have definately reached the point of exhaustion on this model. So hopefully someone out there thinks its a descent portfolio piece, because its my first one. I will now be working on doing humanoid models for my portfolio, because a lot of employers look for those, I was told.

I personaly have a grey untextured, wire frame, textured and rendered in mental ray several angles to demo my models but im doing it just for fun. I would have thought that if your looking for employment your need these to show your work more so the topology of your models.

Personly for me the textures are quite dark with no the best of lighting to see any detail. Your need to sorts that texture problem out your having, sounds like you needed to press GUV Tiles before texturing it. If you textured it in 3d you can press fix seam from the Tools/texture menu.

what happens when you use the PM?

Maybe I can brighten the lighting up on my model, to show more of the textures. The problem I was having with Projection Master was I would paint a section and then it would put that texture all over the model when i got out of PM. It was so frustrating I coudn’t deal with it anymore. I will post some diff. views of the model for you Tez. Thanks for the feedback all, keep it coming.

Maybe this version shows more of the details, I tried to brighten up the lighting to show more of the texture. I also will show some wireframe views in a bit. Hope you like it.

It sounds like a texture maping problem to me. Just press GUV tiles after making a new texture then go into PM your textures will look fine when you pick it back up.

If you do decide to re texture it id use less specula than you have now. t looks mch better what you have now though.

I kind of understood what you said about the GUV tiling so I wil try that next time. I am not going to retexture the model because I am definately tired of working on that one, and I meant to have the specular high to give it a wet and slimy look. Thank you for all the help Tez.

Here is the latest version of my model.
