Bug or feature? Smooth brush doesn't work with Spotlight (answered)

Bear with me everyone. I searched the forums about this without success. I’m having an overall BAD day in Zbrush culminating in 20 minutes of frustration with the smooth brush. I had spotlight images on my screen to use as a sculpting reference. No problems encountered with sculpting, but the smooth brushes don’t work at all with Spotlight. It was a relief to finally discover it wasn’t the sculpting brushes per se as they work fine when spotlight is turned off completely.

Is this a feature that I’m being dense about? Is it a universal condition?

(On a happier note its been a very nice holiday and my husband has a Christmas surprise hes planned for me that starts with “new” and ends with “computer”. Perhaps when it arrives I’ll get off the ground here and complete 5 minutes of work without crashies.)

Sending my New Years hopes and wishes for good health, happiness and prosperity to all the dear Zbrush forum contributors and lurkers and your families.

had same. sut switch of spotlight and smoth then and then switch it on again.

You need to turn off Spotlight Projection in the Brush>Samples menu. Then you will be able to use the Smooth brushes while Spotlight images are visible. (It is also necessary to turn off this option if you want to use Spotlight simply for reference images rather than for sculpting/polypainting.)

Marcus, once again!, to the rescue!!! Thanks so much for the solution. I went around and around with the brush palette for a solultion and I never would have thought to turn off Spotlight Projection.
