Bug: Hotkeys Disappearing

Hello,

I’ve run into an issue in Zbrush that’s been maddening lately. For some reason the program seems to forget my hotkeys all the time. I have the file stored and it is defaulted to load with Zbrush. Sometimes it seems to be in the middle of working, I press my usual shortcuts and nothing happens. Other times the custom menus that I’ve made just don’t load with the program. Sometimes a restart of the program can fix this, but it happens as many as 3 or 4 times daily and really irritates me. Anyone have any insight as to why this happens? Another issue that happens on the side is sometimes Zbrush stays fullscreen and won’t let me alt+tab, so the only way to get into my other programs is to minimize it. Please help if you can!

I’m with you on this one,… I also lose my personal UI configuration…some buttons and sliders just disappear on me…
i can easily go to preferences and reload the saved UI but it happens at least 10 -15 times daily! Frustrating for sure!!

What operating system are you running? And are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Zbrush?

I had to completely re-create my custom hotkeys from scratch to fix this issue on PC 4r7p3.

I noticed that when I would re-enter the same key for an old hotkey that it would give the item a different number.

This led me to believe that pixologic probably changed something in the past few releases and gave new values to specific items.

I haven’t lost my custom hotkeys since I made that change.

I’m assuming the same goes for custom UI. Try re-creating the items that are disappearing from scratch and saving that UI.

Okay thank you. I guess I probably did create it in R6 if that’s what you mean. I’ll have to do it when I have time My OS is Windows 7 and using R7 64bit.

Make sure the only StartupHotkeys.txt file is in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\ZBrushData\ZStartup\Hotkeys folder. Check that there isn’t one in the ZBrush 4R7\ZStartup\Hotkeys folder and if there is, rename it.
