Bug/Glitch??? When using imported obj as tool (answered)

Hey, everyone. I’m SUPER new to Zbrush; my forte is with concept design, but Zbrush is too amazing of a program not to familiarize myself with it. While messing around, i think i may have stumbled upon a bug:

So, i created a really simple geometric shape in Modo and imported it as an OBJ tool in zbrush. I dragged it to the size i wanted, then entered edit mode. I subdivided it about 3 or 4 times with SMT disabled so that it would keep the hard sharp edges. I then masked off the edges with symmetry and then inverted the selection so only my edges were selected. I then applied noise in an attempt to add some wear and tear. After fiddling with the noise settings, i then did a few steps of Undo. After that my model instantly transformed into the default ‘star’ like object - the one with 6 points. Not really sure what or why this happened. Does anyone know what’s going on?

best,

Evan

It sounds like you used undo one too many times - in other words you undid right back to before you imported the mesh.

Hmm. okay, thanks. Why would it instantiate that star thing then? I never even used it. Also, the star thing took on the name of the tool i’d imported.

The star is the default ZBrush polymesh. It’s automatically selected when you import an OBJ, though normally this is hidden from the user.

Hmm. okay. Interesting. THank you ;D
