bug displacement test

Hi.
First post here;)
I was playing with Zbrush 2 for a few days,
I used the model I have already used for displacement using BodyPaint 3D.
So far BP map seems much more detailed, but Im not very mature Zbrush user, so hopefully one day… Still long way to go, but its fun.

Nice bug :+1:

Is not a Bug - it’s a Feature
LOL

Great modeling

Hi jonkajtys,
intersting work:+1:
I’ve one question;
could you share the workflow to apply a displacement map in Lightwave (i have the 7,5), because to many windows and plug in in Lightwave and i’ve not much time to understand the process.
If you have some question about Zbrush, i’m happy to help you.
Bye
Leo

sweetness!:+1: :+1:
excellent modelling and rendering.

dado

excellent modelling!! That last render reminds of those lovely microscopic pics they always show on the news during sweeps week to remind you how gross it is to sleep in motels.

Hi
Thanks;)
When it comes to Lightwave and Zbrush, you have to use a free Normal Displacement plugin (not the one biult in)
It will let you set 50 percent gray of youri mage as a zero displacement value, as well as read 16 bit displacement maps. (there is actually a seprate loader - also free form the same author)
You can find the plugins here: http://lynx.aspect-design.de/plugins/normal_displace_info.htm

Hm, I still cannot figure out the way to export really detailed, contrasty map from Zbrush. All maps I get, are pretty soft and blurry, and they lack at least half of the details I have painted. weird…
ON the other hand, the displacement map, exported from a higher level of subdivision, doesnt show the major big displacements, only the finest ones, -ie, it can only be used for bump channel.

still, IM pretty green here. have to dig deeper into the manuals

cheers

I am new to the displacement thing…have a question or two…

when you say your maps are soft…do you mean as rendered in other app or viewing them in say…photoshop? if so…am wondering how you apply the alpha depth factor from Zbrush to Lightwave…ie how does what that info tells you do you apply that to your settings in Lightwave? Or do you not bother with that and figure your own?

They are very soft in Photoshop - and the resulting displacement is not very detailed as well.

That las rendering gives me an idea for a Zmaterial :D:+1:

Thanks for the Idea! I am going to attempt to make a Zmaterial like your rendering…

Reminds me of an electron Microscope image (for looking at realy small stuff)

Great Work! :+1:

Your whole portfolio is full of very impressive work…congrats!
