Bryce5

I haven’t had any luck anywhere else so I thought I’d try the the very bright and helpful community here at ZBrush Central.

I may be extremely dim witted but so far I have not been able to find a way to work effectively with a Wacom tablet. The program is so sensitive to pen movement that I find I have to switch to a mouse (ugh!). You try to rotate something, or move it and before you know it you’re all over the place.

I’m working with Windows XP in Bryce 5 and can’t seem to find a setting anywhere in the program that let’s me tell it that I’m working with a pen rather than a mouse.

I find it so frustrating that I usually switch to Vue d’Esprit.

Am I missing something or is there no way to work with a pen in Bryce?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Brian

I don’t know anything about Bryce at all, but have your tried the settings for your tablet? Possibly MOUSE MODE would work better then PEN MODE when using a pen in Bryce.

You have surely miss a regulate because the Wacom tablett are excellent with any softs !

For the most part. I have a few apps that you cannot use a tablet with because there is no tablet support. One is a level editor for real-time 3D game creation.

Still, Bryce should support a tablet.

tablets dont work in bryce and tablets dont work in carrara too, there is no way to fix this, pretty ugly.

Dan,

I’ve tried the mouse mode in the past (and just tried it again). It gets rid of the “out of control” situation but it sure isn’t a fun way to work. You’d think Bryce would work easily with tablets, but I think Manitou is right there may be no way to fix it.

I believe Bryce came out of the KPT/Metacreations family originally and a number of KPT filters (at least for the Windows platform) didn’t work worth a hoot with a tablet.

Some other programs have the same problem but you can usually go somewhere in the the preferences section (e.g. in Lightwave) and check a box for tablet support and the behavior is fixed.

I’ll keep checking back here and see if anyone has the magic bullet.

Brian

@Brian:

in Bryce you can use the pen for editing the terrain (the part where you can paint this greyscale-map). Don’t try and use the pen OUTSIDE this part of the application!
Most of the “traditional” 3D-modellers are just the same: use your mouse (unless there is EXPLICID support for those pens).
