Brushes picking up existing sculpt detail

Hey there,

you know how for example the Displace brush picks up sculpted details that are already there while others like the clay brush totally block all exisiting detail and replace it with a (depending on your alpha) smooth surface ?

Is that a brush option that can be activated/deactivated somewhere or is this something that is scripted into the brush itself and can’t be changed ?

i know for clay and flatten you can adjust the samples which is the effect you are talking about. for other brushes i don’t know if it does the same. you may also want to play with the brushes cavity masking, depending on what you are trying to do.
