brush wrap

hello there,

in zbrush 4 i’m trying to add a towelling texture all over a model of a teddy bear. to do this i thought i’d use the wrap function of the alpha, only when i do it doesn’t apply uniformly over the model. what happens is the front applies fine but the back of the model comes in and not out as it should. it’s as if the back of the model is sub and the front additive. hope you get what i mean here :slight_smile:
i do have a mask using an alpha but i can’t really see that making a difference.

thanks in advance

vin

If your referring to Radial Symmetry when you say “wrap function of the alpha”,
then make sure you have the ‘M’ (Mirror) button on in the Transpose palette. That will fix your problem.

god i’m an idiot :stuck_out_tongue:

what i meant to say was the tutorial i followed uses the wrap option in the drop down menu for the brush
so my process is;

  1. mask the model using an alpha to mask the bits i don’t want to alter.
  2. create an alpha for the towelling
  3. set the wrap of the brush (with the towelling alpha) to about 4 and apply but, as i said, it doesn’t apply evenly. the back of the model is pulled in but the front looks great. it’s as if the model is being treated like a flat plane and not 3d.

sorry for the confusion.

If your thinking that Wrap Mode will wrap around the whole mesh, I don’t think that is what it is intended for. Not in ZBrush 4 anyway. If you want to prevent what your doing from affecting the other side then turn on Backface Mask in the Auto Masking subpalette.

cheers zber, i’ll try that.

the wrap seems to work in the gnomon tutorial, just not for me dagnamit! there are other ways to be sure but thought it was something i was doing wrong.

many thanks again zber, you’re a star for the advice.
