brush, tools and saving project questions

I’m a new to zbrush.

How do I get brush to constantly look smooth? I notice, specially the end part of a stroke, my brush stroke starts skipping…looks like circles shape with spaces in between. Where in the setting I can make strokes solid?

When I alter a Tool, Zbrush creates a new brush. Is there a way of renaming or removing Tools?

How do I save my work…do I use File? If so, how do I safe my progress? I don’t see any safe current file. All I see is Open and Save as.

Thanks in advance

For smoother unbroken strokes, you will need to slow your stroke speed to whatever the limits of your system hardware and Zbrush’s brush engine will allow. Performance varies with brush type. The higher the mesh density, the faster strokes will start to separate. Sculpt on lower levels of subdivision to sculpt more quickly. Using Lazy Mouse with settings adjusted to your needs will also help you make smooth, fluid strokes. In some cases disabling Lazy mouse will let you make faster strokes at the expense of smoothness.

You should generally clone a brush first, make changes to it, then “save as” to the Lightbox directory under the name you wish to avoid altering a default brush. When you make a change to an insert mesh brush, it gives you the option to either append it (change the existing brush) or create a new one.

You can remove default brushes from the startup directory, but it’s not recommended, and you should probably let yourself become more experienced with the program before you make decisions along these lines. In the meantime, store your custom brushes in the Lightbox Brush folder for easy recall.
