Brush smoothness

Hello,
I’ve got this problem: I choose a brush (let’s say clay tubes) and change the mode to freehand and sculpt. And what bothers me is the spacing between clay tubes when I make a stroke. If I draw slowly there is no spacing, but when I draw quickly spacing becomes more and more apparent. How to eliminate this spacing completely?

Thanks in advance,
Artur Mandas

Hey there,

go to Top menu/Stroke, switch on Lazy mouse, drop the lazy step to the lowest possible value (not 0), drop all the other value to the lowest value (Lazy Smooth and Lazy Radius).

Just sculpt ahead, there should be no more spacing. Hope that helps.

If anybody tells you “oh lazy mouse crashes your comp” well i never had a single crash …

Hope that helps.

thanks for the reply!

dsoellbuster, just because it doesn’t happen to you is not really the best evidence for it not existing. http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=75919

Hey spaceboy,

you are absolutely right, but the fact that it doesn’t happen to me (nor to anyone else i know for that matter) leads me to the conclusion that this is maybe not software but hardware related.

Sorry if i sounded a bit harsh … just got up after a loooooong night of sculpting  Also i remember that we kinda met in a similar thread some time ago … never meant to direct that to you.

I did try other options as well (Brush modifier/trails) but at least for me it doesn’t give me the results i am looking for. I just like the fact that using lazy mouse also adds to my Z intensity. I do a lot of engraving style sculpting every day and it works just fine.

Again i do apologize for the way i put this.

two other things that might help in certain situations are mouse smoothing in the stroke palette and the trails slider in the brush settings menu.
