Brush size not working in Zbrush 4R2b

Hello! I recently upgraded to zbrush 4R2b from 4R2, and now my brush size adjustment on the touch ring on my Wacom intuos4 no longer works. The keystroke field indicates “[” and “]” which it should to work, but it does not. It was working fine with version 4R2, although it did not always. When I first started using 4R2 it did not work, but one day I went to try it and it did work. It worked fine with 4R2 from that day forward (worked fine for months), then after this upgrade it does not work again. Everything else works fine with 4R2b. Can anyone please help? Any assistance is much appreciated!

You can find the Brush size buttons, labelled <<Brush and Brush>> in the ZPlugin>Misc Utilities menu. Ctrl+Alt+click on a button and then press the relevant hotkey (e.g. [ for <<Brush). Repeat for the other button, then press Preferences>Hotkeys>Store to make sure the hotkeys will be available each time you start ZBrush.

Thanks for the fast reply, Marcus. Looks like I forgot to mention that I am using the Mac OSX version. Will your fix still be possible on a mac? I am away from my Zbrush CPU until later today, so I can’t try it right now. Thanks again.

Zen3D, I’m an idiot. :o There’s no need to edit the Hotkey file directly (I was thinking of a different fix, for some reason). Just assign the hotkeys as you would do for any other button. I’ve edited my original post to show this.

Cheers,

Marcus… you are a fantastic human being! It worked! I am extremely please. Not that it makes a whole lot of sense, though. Weren’t [ & ] already the hot keys for draw size? Those were the keystrokes loaded into the intuos4 to start, so you’d think it would have worked from the beginning. Oh well, I will not look a gift horse in the mouth. thanks a million!

Hello,
There is no problem with the Brush Size Touch Ring whenI start ZBrush, but after a short periode it doesn’t work anymore till I start the whole system (!) again.
