Do you mean when you click on the icon or when you press B? Does it work when you press B?
Sorry. When pressing B.
Try reassigning the hotkey B to the Brush Icon.
It’s a popup function (which I thought was hard coded). You said there was a brush popup icon?
Thank you but that is “Per Selected Brush” and not “Global.”
That is also part of my issue. 
Assigning B to that Icon will bring up the whole brush palette.
Doesn’t hurt to try right? I’ll give it a go. 
Just to be clear, I know it’s showing the Smooth brush in the image, but that doesn’t matter.
My mistake.
I was confusing the assign function the with individual icons in the brush palette. Worked Like a charm, Sir. Thank you for your time and patience. On a weekend too, no doubt.

No problem MAH, glad I could help. You can assign any key, other than Alt, Shift or Ctrl to that icon. It doesn’t have to be B.
