hi, my problem is with zb 4 r2, my brush cursor continually turns light blue and i cant see the size of the actual brush, and when i try to resize it, it is resizing the light blue radius which has nothing to do with what im doing. can anyone help me know what is going on here? ( i am not activating smooth with this)
also i just noticed it only happens on certain parts of my mesh.
The light blue cursor is the Curve Edit cursor. Can you post an image of the problem?

so my actual brush size here is 100 and its showing up as that small. what is weird is that it is popping up on random parts of the mesh only. i have not used any curves on this ztl
See if ‘Curve Mode’ is turned on in the ‘Stroke’ palette. If it is, then turn it off.
it is not on. thanks though~
That’s weird because that definately is the Curve Edit cursor. I think this might be one for Support to answer if you want to wait for a reply from him.
i thought this was the place to get support :P?
 “Support” is his name. He is keeping an eye on this forum beacause of the release of 4R2. You can go to the Support Page if you want and submit a ticket.
o i suppose ill just wait for an answer here and continue dealing with it
Ran into the same problem this morning. There’s just a spot on my mesh where the brush turns from red to pale blue. The pale blue area has different draw size, focal shift and lazy mouse setting which can be altered with hotkeys. There’s no indication that I can see that would make the small patch of polys different to the rest of the model. I don’t think I’ve used the curve brushes on this particular model.
EDIT: It seems to be a glitch in the layers. I’ve got 5 layers on my object. If I select any of the first 4 layers, the model turns black. If I select the layer that I’m working on - the 5th one, the model turns black except where the pale blue brush area is. Turning this layer off makes the non-black area disappear but the brush still turns blue when hovering over it. I can flood fill back to the correct colour however the pale blue brush area remains.
EDIT: Fixed it with the help of a fellow from Polycount. As it turns out there was a tiny, curve on my mesh which was invisible with the brushes I was using. Opening the stroke menu, and turning on the curve tool revealed the curve which I then removed by clicking delete. Not sure if there’s a bug here or not.
This doesn’t explain the business with my mesh turning black which I guess is a seperate issue.
Ive had the same problem, on a mesh I havnt used the curve tool on.
you have to open the stroke pallet, turn on the curve button, delete the curve, then turn off the curve button. That stops the cursor turning blue and changing size. but it is very frustrating.
Im pretty sure this happend to me because I used the curve on another subtool in the same set… anyway heres the pics to help anyone who dosent get it from the descriptions.

hi,
i had a similiar problem but during retopo. everything worked fine… i started on my laptop and played around with the new stuff. then i had a nice litte creature. the next day I switched to my workstation and after some time (seems random)
i get this error message (already send to the support team)
INTERNAL ERROR .\List.cpp Line:155
Locked main mem in list-out
Object:
it pops up several times. then crash but zbrush manages to save a auto file recovery. ok… so restart. opened the file and continued the work.
the first time everything seemed fine…
but now if i get back into retopo mode my cursos is randomly in the blue curve mode… but i never created any curves. and during retopo i can’t activate/deactivate the curve mode…
I tried to open another polymesh3d. did some curve brush strokes and delete the curve again. if i now go back to my retopo tool i have my normal red cursor back…
very strange and very annoying! i hope this is a bug and more people encounter this problem (if so, plz report it!)
and not something with my RAM or something like that…
spelling errors are not for purpose and I beg pardon for my bad grammar and hope everybody understands what i mean
Ive had the same issue. Very frustrating. However activating curve mode did reveal a curve for me in that area which I was able to delete and get my brush to behave properly again. As for the tool turning black Ive also had that problem and cannot figure it out either. Ive also encountered an issue where when I open my file the material I originally assigned to the mesh is no longer the same and instead it switches it to like a toon shaded material which I cannot remove even with a material and color fill on that mesh. Only deactivating poly paint alows me to view any other material. If I try to repaint the material with a brush the area being painted turns black no mater what material or color I have selected
