I just started working with Z4R2.
I can’t resolve the tool penetration of the reference plane issue in Z4R2 like I could in Z4.
What am I doing wrong? Is there a new and/or better way?
Thanx!
Can you explain what you are doing (and perhaps post an image too)? It’s difficult to know what method you are trying.
Thank you for your time and consideration!
I’ve been starting in the following manner (always worked in Z4):
- import image through texture - on the default palette at the left
- click “Crop and Fill”
- “Zoom” out
- load tool - or select PolyMesh3D_3 for example
- click and drag to draw tool
- click “EDIT” (to go 3D)
- rotate tool
- click “EDIT” again (to leave 3D)
- click “MOVE”
- pull gyro down to pull tool forward in front of reference plain, so there is no penetration
- click “EDIT” again (back to 3D)
- get to work
- “TEXTURE” pull down
- click “Image Plane” at bottom to open sub palette
- click “Load image”
- select image from dialogue pop-up
- repeat steps 5-12 above
Thanx!!!
Thanks, that’s a great help. Try this (using the Image Plane plugin):
- Draw your model on the canvas and click Edit to enter Edit mode.
- Press Texture>Image Plane>Load Image and choose an image.
This should automatically place the image behind your model so that there’s no clipping.
HTH,
Hey Marcus,
Thank you very much…that worked, and so easy!
Since you gave such concise and effective advice, can you tell me if I understand correctly that the plugins up through Z4 are by default incorporated into Z4R2? For example, Image Plane 4R2, isn’t that for older releases, or would I benefit from downloading it? What about GoZ, PaintStop, ZApplink V4, and Adjust? I have all the other plugins in Z4, and they show-up in my plugin menu in Z4R2. What’s the deal with the plugins for Z4R2?
Thank you for your patience and willingness to share!!!
Arich
If you are on Windows then all the plugins installed when you installed ZBrush 4R2 are the latest versions and you don’t need to download anything.
If you are on a Mac then you would need to download and install the new version of Image Plane that is available at the Download Center. All the other plugins included with the ZBrush 4R2 are the latest versions.
Marcus,
Great, thank you for the confirmation.
Again, thank you very much for your help!
