Bringing back an old friend

Fantastic work, you always strike the right balance between ZBrush and PS, not overproducing an image, but bringing out the best in a sculpt.

Fantastic work as always, Rick. Her eyes are so expressive and she really feels like a living character. I have to agree with the others about the hand in particular…that paint job is mind-blowing!!!

Thanks guys ,glad you like him, her,it. Schlitzie was actually a man but I guess to make him even stranger they dressed him as a woman.

I remember the first time I saw a few scenes from this movie when I was probably around 12. “Freaked” me out for sure!

Yah me too hence the title.
Even though disturbing I was always fascinated by Schlitzie as he always seemed happy.

I love when I click on the next page of the thread and see the wide window layout, because it means Rick’s uploaded something else for us to see.

That great color render isn’t in the thread anymore. I only noticed because I came back to the thread to send the link to a friend; now it’s GONE!!! :cry:small_orange_diamond:cry:small_orange_diamond:cry:small_orange_diamond:cry:small_orange_diamond:cry:small_orange_diamond:cry:small_orange_diamond:cry:

…also the top row gallery is completely at right of the screen and the images posted by the users seems cutted…i’m using i.explorer and was ok but not now , with firefox it’s perfect but yes the colourful render of Schlitzie are disappeared…

Yah sorry guys I removed the final image because I was contacted by someone who wants to sell prints if it and they asked me to do so.
I started the real world sculpt of Schlitzie and recorded a time lapse of the progress so far thought you might want to check it out.

I printed up some different views of my Ztool and found it very helpful .Pushing clay is much different than pushing pixols.

my god Mr Baker, this is fantastic … it’s Amazing to watching you at work while sculpting…excellent choise of score too really fits the movie :+1:

Honestly…Man…You are simply in the zone. I can’t wait for more.

Cool time lapse! Amazing speed.
Looking forward to the next episode.

Nice! I love how you used the digital sculpt for ref.

Although, when I bought your video of the old woman it was easy to see your methodology was traditional even though you were sculpting digitally!

So damn cool Rick!

- Matt.

just marvelous, sir! if you want to do more more traditional i think everybody would think its awesome, will you post some images of the sculpt?

Hey Rick, I hope this isn’t too off-topic (it is related), but have you ever tried to get the brilliant Kazu Tsuji to try his hand at Zbrush or digital sculpting in general?

And also on the traditional informing digital topic, will we ever see the maquette you guys did for Tron Legacy? Even Cinefex didn’t show the Benny Button one you guys did, but it can be found online (and it’s beautiful). Yet I haven’t seen the Tron one anywhere. Maybe your book? Or is it something political?

Thanks again,
Matt.

subject bad, skill good

I meant to post this a while ago. Here is a photo of the sculpt almost finished. This is the continuation of the sculpt in the time lapse video.
I must say real world sculpting takes a lot longer than digital ,then I have to mold, cast ,paint and punch hair.
It was fun pushing real clay around for a change though.
