Brett's Sketchbook

leighBamforth: Thanks. I’ve added more detail to the feet. Though not visible in this update :stuck_out_tongue:

abyss103: Thanks mate. I’m glad you like it :+1:

warpy: Hey Ori. Hows it going dude. I hope your ok. The eyes have got that reflected light. Its just that the light isn’t so bright. If you look at the specular or reflection of the skin you will see that the light source isn’t very bright. It was rendered using an hdri image and one light from the back. I can try make it brighter. But my head space is in wolverine at the moment. As for the crying. Haha. no. But its nice to know people are wondering what his emotion will end up. I guess people are taking from it what they like. And I’m happy with that:D.

RiVvenGuard: Hey thanks man. Texturing? Errrr. I do know Leigh Van der Byl did a texturing for dummies. Maybe try that?

maeschaet: Thanks man. Your right. Chin up as they say, Right?

Update on wolverine: Some texture. The jeans were a quick zapplink. So haven’t really worked on the texture there. Also need to paint in blood.

Looks great. The ridge around the arrow in the front feels weird, maybe make it less raised. I’m a fan of the more primal Wolverine and not so much the tea sipping perfectly ironed spandex version, so I’m really enjoything this. Although the arrows do feel alone, if he was rumbling around in the woods through brush and trees, fighting wild beasts and whatever else might be hunting him, he would have some abrasions and scratches as well as whatever hes been stuck with.

Great Model and… texturing!!! Very nice Buddy! :+1:

Hi Brett, model really coming on great… I have a question for you or anyone out there, this from a old man, our grasping of computers is not always that great… “Where does one go from ZBrush to get a good render, and if possible a stand alone product, I have looked a CD4… Maya and Max seem to have a steep learning curve” any suggestions?

Ziggy

Ben: Thanks for the crit mate. I’m keeping what you said in mind. I’ve added more scratches. I decided to leave out the blood. Does Wolverine really bleed? He heals so fast I thought maybe he didn’t . haha.

piz: Ahoy piz! How you doing dude. Long time no read. haha.

Ziggy: Thanks man. I just use maya and mental ray. I don’t know of many standalone apps. Sorry.

Here’s some render tests. Hope you like it… The 1st three are highres geo. Freakin shave crashes with displacement…

And this one is a displacement test…

CASHFIRE’S BLOG

Dude! I love that last render. The hands, I love it …looking great! Can’t wait to see it on the top row when you are finished!

You have done a great job on the anatomy. Fantastic job on the exaggeration, it feels very convincing and balanced. The texturing is also look ing very good. Keep up the great work:+1:

Thanks guys.

The hair is done with shave and a haircut. Rendered in buffer mode. Its broken up into 4 parts. One part for each side of the head with 15000 hairs for each side. The sideburns at 5000 hairs. And the chest at 3000 hairs. All with a multi strand of 1. No final gather for the rendering. Instead I used mental ray area lights. Final gather is a nightmare for flickering and artifacts.

wickedly wicked  really looking forward to more Brett! And what the f! - it’s a 5 star sketchbook…

Hey there Brett.

Funny I never posted when I lived in Jo’burg so near you.
I didn’t know there was such talented South Africans using ZBrush.
Congrats on the feature and amazing work.

Cammy and Wolverine seem to be a really nice evolution in your work.
Top notch stuff! I’m in love with Cammy here
Thing about ZBrush is I can’t get past the doodling stage with it.
Have to become a customer someday it’s such and amazing painting app, specially the new version.

Keep it up bro. Tot siens.

Nothing much.

Just a lame-ass thing I doodled to stay loose. Meh…
