Hi gang,

I’ve been a professional ( clay & wax) sculptor for 18 years in the toy/ collectibles industry.

I just bought Zbrush last week…love it!! I’m playing with it and trying out all the tools…watching all the tutorials. Amazed by the work shown here.

I have a ( silly?) question. My son made a cool creature head from a polysphere…and made a seperate body out of Z spheres. He saved both and wants to know if he can now combine the two ZTL document/tools on one page so he can put his creation together like Dr. Frankenstein!

Can it be done?

i am not an expert but u should be able to load both ztools, append one to the other under the subtool menu. i think the zsphere mesh needs to be made into a 3d mesh first though.

yes append as subtools.
however you say document/tools be VERY aware these are completely different, your tool must be saved out separately, if you save it as a document you are now in 2.5d land, make sure to watch the zclassroom videos.
btw i so want a job like yours, dream job i would think. sigh.

It looks like in the tutorials for 3.5 that you can append a tool to a zskiff (and maybe vice versa). Take a look at the Zsphere section for 3.5.

If one part is only saved as a document, you won’t be able to modify the part as if it were a tool, you will only be able to drop a tool to canvas to add to it.
