BPR Rendering, transparent subtools, merging and spraying

Good Day,

I have a question, and I cannot find an answer to this. I would like to use the BPR transparency options to render out a transparent covering over another model. I can only do this while both are separate subtools, so I can only render out 1 view at a time, and the final composition will require multiple views of the same thing in different orientations.

Is there a way to “spray” the combined 2 subtools so that when using BPR, the outer subtool is rendered transparently? Is there a better way to do what I am trying to do? Ultimately, I want to use the models to “spray” them randomly for an illustration that shows many. I can do this with a single subtool easily, but making a tool have a transparent outer coating and also being able to spray it so there are multiple models randomly placed does not seem to work. So far, my only solution is to model and render one view with both subtools at a time and BPR tranprency on. Then I insert each one individually into the composition. This is too time consuming. If you have a possible workaround, then please let me know.
Thank you

I would create the inner tool as One polygroup and the outer as other polygroup. Then you can create an IMM brush for spray your character all the scene. After doing that you will have to go each one and split by groups and make the outer part transparent. Transparency only works if enable on each subtool. It´s not a material property but a subtool rendering property.

Thank you for looking into this and helping figure out a solution. I follow what you are saying, and I will try to separate the model into polygroups - I believe I can do this from the polygroups panel…

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with how to create IMM brushes yet, but I’m sure there is a tutorial for the new features.

Due to time constraints for the project, I have manually placed the models for now, but will look into the new IMM brush features for the next project.

Thank you.
