box head modeling

After looking at the threads about boxmodeling I started to make a ‘basic’ head.
It can be useful for starters in Zbrush.

On my way out for brunch…but I had to check by the forum…and saw your thread, Bas.

The box head you did here is a great starting point. I hope more people try this technique. I seem to get alot more modeled detailed in when I use this method. Once you get the form in place and begin subdividing the modeling for me gets somewhat exciting. Each subD opens up a cleaner and more defined model imho. Anyhoo, enough ranting…glad to see your thread. talk at ya laterz.

This works a lot cleaner than with Zspheres. This little ‘Ghandi’ (5 Sdiv) took less than 20 min. starting from the base model. I made the basic model with a gap between the eyes and the nose. Now the eyes can be moved better without deststroying the shape of the nose.

Can you record a zscript to see the process of making the eyes? Did you saw the zscript of Surly Bird? He make the eyes from lateral extrusion and then put fforward. If i understand well you use a different approach¡
Is very interesting to see it¡
Thanks in advance

I placed the eyeshape outwards and made the edgeloop. The eyeball  is made by ProjectionMaster. I did not record the script bacause I was trying things out.

Thanks for sharing!
Ive played 10 minutes with it (unfortunatly without pen), very good base model…
I bring my part : small improvement to the base smoothed shape. This is how I start building faces…
If it can helps beginners…
I use to double work space, I hope your desktop can handle the resolution…
