Bottom Matcaps Loading as Standard Materials

Hey guys,

I’ll get right to it :stuck_out_tongue: Basically the matcaps at the bottom of the container load as standard materials, and a few more render as standard matcaps that come with zbrush. Here’s a pic to show what I mean:

Do I simply have too many matcaps for them to load properly? I have 8 gigs ram if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks!

I don´t know what you mean by
“Basically the matcaps at the bottom of the container load as standard materials, and a few more render as standard matcaps that come with zbrush.”

But  oh wow! You have too many materials!
I made the same mistake because I thought -hey wow 200materials that´s cool:D but this can cause some problems.
You shouldn´t put more than 20-25 materials in the Zstartup folder.

Ok cool thanks for the reply :stuck_out_tongue: figured it had to do with over load haha

The ZStartup folders are meant to auto-load the special content that you know you’ll be using constantly. They are NOT meant to use for any material (or alpha or texture) that you think you might use at some point. Remember: every startup item uses system memory. The more you use for that, the less you have left for actually sculpting and stuff. So there are limits on how many items ZBrush will let you put into the ZStartup folders.

Extremely helpful Aurick! I’ve rethought light in my zstartup folder :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks a ton!
