Boris - the russian...

hey y’all. i have been away from 3D for about 6 months coz of work and all. here’s my latest project. i recreated a base mesh from an old model in maya and tweaked it ALOT. then i put it into Zbrush and somehow, with alot of experimenting i got these results. but for some reason i think there’s something wrong with the lips. BTW the whole model is assymetrical (slightly). e.g. uneven ears and a little on the lips. anyways, i would extremely appreciate any thoughts and comments (good and bad).

Hey there. Lookin good so far. I think if you just shift the whole mouth down a bit it might start to look a little better. theres no room for that little indentation under the nose and above the upper lip. also, his nose is awfully big. maybe scale it down a touch and see what you come up with. Hope this helps. ill be keeping an eye out for updates

Bones

wow thanks, you’re right, i will try shifting the mouth down a little. As for the nose, i meant it to be that big (maybe ill try making it a little smaller)

ok im done for the day:o  so sleeeeeepy . anyway, here are some updates for the people who care… jk

here’s a little update. i am an amateur when it comes to texturing and shading, so here’s some stuff i fiddled around with in Zbrush and the last pic is how the final charater will probably be pu together.
hope u like it mansss. and please tell me which skin shading y’all like best.

looks good so far, i cant really decide which skin is best suited, i think it will be very dependent on the other shaders for the cloth. To get the right tone can be a real pain…

GReat model TotalScore … I am almost a newbie … did you also create the clothings in Zbrush too ??

hi sorry guys i cant have any updates until the problem i have is fixed its on this thread and nobody seems to comment on it. so until then i cant develop my project any further. sorry

my problem is with zMapper.>>>

The last skin is my preference.

Elixir the last 2 were my fave.

Very nice work. The mid specular might be a little strong (minor comment)

yeah i think ill adjust that Elixir thanks. its also one of the layers when i composited it in photoshop, the specular layer.

ok here it is, nothing major, just a bowler hat for boris. the cloths are coming soon piece by piece

hey everybody. this isnt an update but rather a little help out. some people have been asking me how i do my skin shading and i explained to them, and here are all the skin shaders i use. Its a colletection containing the infamous sokar skin materials with lights, an ambient occlusion shader (which i use ALOT), and a series of SSS materials that i personally use with textures. All the materials are for ZBrush. i hope everybody will have fun with these, enjoy. see youse later.
ciao

PS: the light for the sokar material 2 i cannot upload because it is more than 100k even when it is zipped. i got it from ZBrush It. :frowning:

hey y’all, heres an update of the choice of weaponery of Boris, his main gun. by the way, whats the caliber of a luger pistol?

PS: i took this model from a 3Dsmax library and rebuilt it because i couldnt smooth it in maya and it looked too blocky.

The gun looks great! Can’t wait to see the texture and paint
