Ok here we go the new revamped Rhinotaur. lol good thing I didnt go with my first idea of using an elephant and making a giant Elephantaur. just trying to get the proportions right on this thing is killer. but rhinos have small heads compared to their body so I think the size will work.
I added the female warrior that will be riding him. I like the scale size difference as it makes the rhinotaur look larger than what a normal rhino would be. any opinions on the scale factor?

Ok I finished the Female and also have the male warrior ready. I tried various things with the females waist from wider to where it is at now. Wide just didnt seemd to work for her.
Now here is my thinking for the female Rhinotaur why I feel I have her proportions correct.
First females are usually slightly smaller in frame than males thus her human torso slightly slimmer which makes her a little narrower than the body but hey she cant help it shes female.
Next I gave her some decent size boobs and added sag to them. Shes a fat Rhino so naturally her boobs be bigger than normal and kinda fatty.
I didnt want her to have the usual female body builder style thats almost flat as boris and frank usually have some busty women and this keeps in the theme.
I did work a little on her in zbrush and brought her lower abs down some and a little longer and I thinkher torso came out really well. Next I will work on the blending of the 2 bodys.
The male I will be doing similar with the lower abs which willhelp narrow down the lengthyness of the torso.
Other than that I am happy with the results for my base models. thinking of the muscular (but fat) body of the rhino I decided to go with a more Hulk look and think I nailed it.

And Finally a couple shots of my full cast of characters for this scene.
well I also thunk of some more for the scene.
The Rhinotaurs will have ponytails with gold bands holding them up. will have to work on the females so she dont look just bald. the female warrior will have flaming red hair down to her butt with some curls to it. the male warrior will have long kinky hair just little past the shoulders. this is all after I learn how to do hair etc lol.

Well I finished the blend for the female and I really like the way it turned out.
For reference I am using the Shinyoldskull metcap http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=46175&page=2&pp=15
found above link. I really like modeling with it as you can see thelow spots get a nice shading and it allows you to see all kinds of problems when they pop up.

That is quite possibly one of the worst BV paintings I have ever seen.
lol yea this ones a little better but was just showing the theme type I was trying to do a centaur type creature with weapon and warrior woman on his back.

I been working on the male, however I dont care for him all that well mainly due to sharp point areas from my crappy meshing that I cant get to cover up or smooth down. However since this is only my first model I wont worry too much about it I just want to learn how to use the programs and tools. I am finally starting to get the hang of zbrush and got the male semi refined. its far from perfect but good for a start.

uh…before trying to emulate the styles of a master of art like ?Frazetta Id highly suggest you go through all of the tutorials on this site.
Right now it looks very bad.
You seemed to want honesty so Im being honest not rude.
To me this looks like a quickly modeled male torso slapped onto the default rhino model that comes with zbrush.
To me this isnt art and I feel if you’re going to copy masters styles you need much more studying.
I Do like the womans face…however the arms and body look like a male. Id suggest getting some anatomy books and learing to draw a bit first. You can’t really fake this stuff no matter how good the software.
Maybe think about making them from a simple z sphere mesh and slowly building form.
The porportions are all off because you’re basically puttin g a huge male body on a little rino body.
In reality this would never work since the animal is mjuch larger then a person.
Id suggest making the upper torso have way more rino elements in it to tie this togeather.
thanks GDUB I dodnt like the way it meshed either. I did like the proportions and had it posted on a couple other forums and thi is where most agreed the male looked best. the female they said had too much testosterone but since rhinos are big mucular bulky critters I wanted her to have that look. all agreed I just needed to take her off steroids. the problem is whan I did that she looked too teensy for the body.
I decided last night to try and do it in zbrush using zsphere. I been following the tutorials and trying to figure it out. I almost have it base modeled up then have to adjust some things. this spheres are weird to work with but fin. I just wished there was an easier way to rotate around the screen. I will be posting my zsphere model shortly. it doesnt look too bad but gonna kill me trying to adjust everything lol.

Oh good to hear you’re re-doing it that way and learning from the tutorials and Im glad you took my comments so well as I was rather blunt.
It does take some time to wrap your head around it all and figure out the best way to create since there’s so many different options…maybe think about using Zsketch over you zspheres then sculpting on the mesh you create from them. This took me awhile to get used to but I found its an awesome way to create and explore new ideas especially since you’re trying to come up with concepts and designs on the fly.
There’s a really good webcast video in the video section about this maybe check that out.
Also if you really want to sculpt the woman maybe think of her being part lion or jaguar…which can look elegant and also powerful and impressive.
This makes me think of the Tarzan covers I used to see by Frazetta …and Jaguar God…or godess maybe?
I dont think an animal built like a Tank would look to great with a part female body…and actualy Tank might but the stumpyness and bulk of a rhino doesnt work well with the female form IMO
thanks. Im an old fart lol almost 49 I am as blunt and gruff as they come so I can take it. I actually was liking the human bodys I had especially the males face.
I am no where near being an artist but I been trying for 2 weeks to learn how to come up with something I can turn into a nice scene. I always loved boris and franks work and heavy metal magazine and always wanted to do some sculptures based on them but wasnt very talented. now with 3d I figure i might have a shot. I been doing 3D cad work for 2 1/2 yrs and figured this should be easy to learn too lol I was wrong.

Good Stuff!
Well I think your best bet is to watch as many of the videos on this site as you can…it does take some trial and error for sure.
Good luck on your sculpt.
thanks i have zbrush basics character creation in zbrush and several other zbrush videos I been watching.
im following one of these tutorials and its on the fingers now and they making like 4 joints rofl i have to finish it to see what they do to finish it off

question
every once in a while when editing my model gets all pixellated and I have to restart to clean it up. is it just the software or am i hitting some button accidentally?
well last night while working with zspheres I had an epiphany and so went back to my original work to test it out and my mesh turned out really nice i am very happy with it.
before I was trying to add the stomach etc on my merge and wasnt getting the look I wanted, plus my mesh was a total mess. well this time I just took the abdomen out and kept just the chest. this did 2 things. it created a creature where the upper half would be an actual part of the lower half and not just 2 seperate parts joined together. Secondly it made the mesh joint come together more nicely.
Now since I want touse the asian rhino as my preference, I need to add a lot of folds of skin and get them really bumpy. by doing this it will blend the two together into a more realistic creature. I have done a rough first draft of the outlines where I want the large skin panels on the chest. this willblend the two together better.
Right now I am looking at 2 different ways to place the panels so that they look natural. but I have a rough layout of one version

Ok i am fairly happy with this version though i still have a lot of work to do its shaping up. wished I knew how to uv map so I could test texture and render it to see how it looks though ((

because I have to work on hair and armour and other stuff I thought I would do a small bust so I had something to practice on before going for the full monty here. so I am doing boris Blood Bitch bust
I got started with a bust and helm but the bust needed work so I enlarged and pushed the breasts together to get a nicer cleavage to match the image. I also widened the jaw and rounded the cheeks to give her the fuller look. the first image is my first try and the second is with adjustments. I am doing this entirely in zbrush and pulled it into max so that i got a nice smooth image.
the armour is going to be a biatch for me but will definately be a challenge.
