Searched around for this but can’t pin it down.
I have a model in Zbrush (as a single subtool) and have added 4 editing 3D layers (one for large displacement, one for small displacement and two layers for finer detailed bump mapping. Final goal is one displacement map from the two displacement layers and one bump map from the two bump map layers)
The problem is if I hide part of the model (so I can more easily work on the more hidden parts of the model) I can no longer access any of the 3D editing layers I have set-up (I can only edit the models base mesh).
SO
Is there anyway to retain the ability to edit a 3D layer while hiding pieces of the model / base mesh? Will separating the model into sub tools help / allow this to happen?
My ideal situation would be to have one subtool and 4 to 6 3D layers and be able to hide parts of the base mesh and still work on any of individual 3D layers.

OK.
I see if I first select a 3D layer and then hide part of the mesh I will be working on just that 3D layer only (progress).
Still would be nice to be able to turn specific 3D layers on or off while part of the model is hidden. As it is I have to un-hide first, switch 3D layers and then re -hide the part.
Tried multiple subtools but that looks like a no go.
