Yeh sometimes its hard to post neither when no one is on
nor when your surrounded by toprow material.
Dont take it personal.
I must say i like the grayver more by now.
The knight looked very intricate and well detailed at the beginning
but he lost of the fine armor details with the lowpoly and the textures.
The legs look better textured then the torso piece.
Skin colours also seem a bit twitchy but that could be the render.
Give this a shot if you havent already.

Very nice real time renderer with fantastic results.

yeah…me agree too…with all that stunning top row stuff around, your thread will easily be left in the cold as i’m aware of myself.people look and ok next thread. this guy need more practice… but i think that’s the way it is.just keep practicing and keep posting.hehe. btw u got nice character going on.keep posting.
Yeah, don’t be a stranger. Your work is great. Try and put your characters in a dynamic pose or make a scene. People are looking for interesting ideas and art. You’ve got the technical ability so go wild!!
Thanks DiscoStu, Sgrell and Am3D for posting!
No worries I will keep practicing
Thanks for the marmoset tool bag link. I have installed it but my attempts to make anything to look as good as the samples were unsuccesfull. I browsed the internet for more explanation that just the read me. Until I find any way to make this look great I guess I’ll keep rendering in Max :). But this is definitly and awesome initiative so thanks for sharing!
I also agree there is some serious artists around here, but it is so inspiring!
Thanks Sgrell for encouraging me! I actually tried a couple of poses for this guy today but moved to the next piece. I guess it’s kinda fast but I’m getting more efficient with every new model

What I do is to use a posed character from poser or quidam and append it as a subtool, then you transpose your zbrush character or you can even project your ztool onto the poser/quidam model. Also don’t forget to enable perspective when you render.
That’s a very smart process Sgrell!
I usually take a picture of myself in the desired pose and try to mimic it.
That’s because I don’t have such programs as Quidam or Poser.
Here’s the beginning of a new character:

Are you going for an art style? Or photorealism? You’ll get the best results sculpting a head using the xplanes and zprojectbrush.
Give it a go!! Nice idea though but he’s not as cool,as the guy from Kill Bill.
Hi Sgrell and thanks for posting!
I’m not going for photorealism
Very slightly more cartoony - exagerated face features. You’ll see where I’m going soon
Never heard about xplanes and zproject brush. What’s that?
That’s the base for the body and pose
Some muscles don’t deform correcty so I’m gonna fix them next. I will detail the hands too.
However his body will be completly coverd with cloth but it’s still a nice anatomy exercise.
In the meantime if anyone has info about xplanes and zproject brush:D

Practicing practicing!
Here’s an update with the dress
There will be a chinese dragon around his legs and body so that’s why it looks weird around the ankles. His head will be like the one above
Hands are very WIP too

Looking good dude, I’m sculpting cloth at the moment and I made some cloth alphas that helped a lot for doing random wrinkles and folds.
Interesting Sgrell!
I would be very interested in seeing the result if you dont mind?
I’m just using the following setup:
Mask + Snakehook with gravity and brush mod around 50
Pinch + Lazy mouse + BRush mod around 60 + high brush falloff
Some clay/inflate here and there
Sure buddy, whatever works for you. It’s good to have many methods.

Morph brush is a very good idea indeed!
Will give a try to your method
Thanks for the great idea!
Update with the head an hands improvements

Next steps are:
Belt
Shoulder armor pieces
Some more drapery
Big parchment in his right hand that will hang down to the ground
Chinese dragon flying around him

wow, that sculpture is awesome. I love the clothing / pose / theme !!!
I’m stunned, keep posting your work

The serpent/dragon is awesome, tough to do the scales?
Looking good! Keep at it!
