Blood Thirster

Hi guys,
this is my first time posting my work on this forum.
This is the character I am currently working on. The concept is from Warhammer Forge World statue.
I think Im done with modeling. The body is fully unwrap, now I am unwrapping the armor and might bring it to zbrush.

I couldnt get the projection master to get the detail I want( bump isnt working either) so I might have to paint the bump in Photoshop.

C& c are welcomed!

PUM!!! haha, you’re marking your territory on ZBC now? me too! I see you’ve been busy, it looks really good! Did you import the hi res mesh back to xsi? Keep it up, try doing your bump in ZB so you can help me out later hehe.

null man: haha, it’s time I post something up after lurking in here for along time now!
And no, I didnt import the multi million poly back to xsi, I used zmapper to generate the normal map, it works really great for this cahracter.

cheers,
HB

Awesome work there…will we get to see him colored up?

what problems where ya having with using pm to detail?

omg that Rocks. Great work:+1: I would like to see him colored up also:D

great job. thats a huge improvement from the last time i saw it.

Looks very cool

Wow. Definitely Games Workshop. Cool model, great pose. No crit so far, apart the veina vessels that are not appearing enough, they should be much more proeminent and thick. Try to put your hand on some bodybuilder pics, those are great references !

I really hope to see this one achieved !

Bye !

thanks for the kind replies guys

aminuts: currently, I am unwrapping the armor, after that I will start tedturing the body. I couldnt get pm to work on the body ( 2,2 tris.) if I subd it one more time, it will be 8 mill which crash my zbrush. I tried using projection master to create alpha for bump, but I dont like the way it shows up. Do you have any idea on how to help me solve this problem?

Tartan:he will be textured, but not for a little while

joe55:thanks!

ghostofmacbeth: thanks!

Davlin:I think I should thicken up the veins, when I was sculpting the arms, I isolated other parts so the veins on the arms look thick back then. Now they look too small compare to the rest of the body.

cheers guys,
HB

ah…so while your model has lots of polys they aren’t all good where ya need em? For future projects one thing you might consider is breaking up the model and importing them in pieces so each piece can be subd’d to high enuf levels for fine detailing. This opens up a can of worms in trying to get the maps all working together but folks manage to make it work. I don’t remember if you mentioned what other app you’re using but there are xsi, maya and max threads here that should help ya with that.

if the problem is you don’t like the alpha itself there are a number of things in the alpha menu you can try. Max, rf (radial fade), and the alpha curves are good places to start. Focal shift is another. Also remember that Zintensity can be adjusted as well and most alphas you use for bumping/displacing …the zintensity probably doesn’t need to be much higher than 5-10. You will also want to select hide only the parts you will be working on and stay away from edge geometry as they can be displaced as well and could make for some funky results.

a little practice with various settings of the above mentioned settings on a sphere will quickly show you what will work for you.

remember also you can use any brush…i like to use the directional brush and lots of folks like to use the deco brush. You can also turn that alpha into a stencil for even more control. A little experimenting will help you find what works best for you.

haha hope something there helps ya out.

Wow, nice one! And it’s good to see more WH(40k) Stuff here. Your Khorne-Boy is very impressive :+1: I’m working on a Kroot at the moment BTW, but I’m a bloody Noob at 3d, so don’t know if I will get some good resultes…

aminuts:thanks so much for the suggestion! I tried the radial face and focal shift, they work, but Im not really happy with the result.
I learnt my lesson. Next time im gonna break my model into pieces before I bring it to zbrush.
Sorry I forgot to mention, I model using XSI.

cyberjankie:thanks.Im a hugeee fan of warhammer for like almost 10 years now. I would love to see a kroot model! ive never seen one in 3d before.

cheers guys.
