bigger displacement texture export

Hi,
In this days I have to solve a problem:
I’ve got a 8192 x 320 texture that is used to map o south pole of a planet.
I must subdivide it into section that are used like LOD and recreate same resolution textures of these fractions.
So I thought to use the first texture to displace the south pole of the sphere, than subdivide and paint the terrain using Zbrush, and export a mega displacement texture and divide it into his various rectangles.

The question is:

How much big texture can I export? Depends on RAM?
Can I automatically export it into fractioned parts?
