Better Workflow for 3D Printing / Stuck at 3 Million Points in Dynamesh

I’m trying to prepare a project for print. Across all subtools I have a total of just under 13 million points. When everything is merged down to one tool and dynameshed I can’t seem to get over 3 million points. This is not an impossible resolution but I’d love to have one tool at twice that rez before I create a shell and decimate for print.

I’ve tried Dynamesh and no matter what physical size I change the tool (to get a larger bounding box and more detail) I still end up at just under 3 million points. Even if the slider is set to 1024 and then I jump to 2048 or really any value, I still get a number under 3 million. Sometimes the number of points will even drop slightly lower.

Using the Dynamesh Master (which I really love otherwise) I can’t seem to break the 3 million point barrier, even with auto scaling on and no matter what I set the desired point count to.

  1. Am I missing something obvious?
  2. Is there a better workflow? I’m using Dynamesh (and ultimately with a shell) to Decimation Master.

Thanks All:D

Is your Max Polys Per Mesh in the Mem section of preferences set too low maybe?

Actually I tumbled across something today that might be the solution to this. It turns out I couldn’t get the dynamesh to go past a certain resolution either no matter what I did. Then I realised I had some of the mesh hidden. Simply unhiding all of the mesh and then doing a dynamesh fixed the problem! You might even just have something tiny hidden that’s causing this.

Hope it helps! (and if not you, then somebody else)

Cheers,
