I’m trying to create fur for a lion I’ve sculpted, and the million hairs that fibermesh allows for is nowhere near enough. Has anyone figured out a good workaround for this? The options I can think of are:
-
Apply different fibermeshes to different patches of the body. Would presumably work, but might grind my computer to a halt and blending the patches could get nightmarish.
-
Using micromesh to replace one hair with a patch of several dozen hairs. Not sure if this would get visually pleasing results.
-
Export hair as guides in Maya, and add additional hair there. Adds a whole lot of technical complexity I’d rather avoid.
Is there anything I’m not thinking of? Has anyone tried any of these methods, and have they worked out?
