Beginning Works

Hey guys! Doing a little project for one of my acting classes, presenting a manifesto of sorts. It’s basically a presentation on our ideas and concepts for what we want to do in the world of theatre and art. I’ve started making my video presentation and simply HAD to include ZBrush in it. It also features some of my Photoshop work and a quick glance at some screenwriting. Here’s a link to the youtube vid. Thanks for watching!

Hey y’all! Back from another break. Been watching some vids of Ryan Kingslien’s work on Youtube. Such a great instructor! His work on the Thor maquette inspired me to practice some different methods on approaching muscle anatomy, such as using Clay Tubes to build up and define as much as possible and then start smoothing everything back in a very ’sketch’ like way.

Anywho, also trying to start getting a little bolder with my sculpts. This guy ain’t finished yet; I’ll post more pics soon of skin texturing and whatnot. Happy ZBrushing!

Not a widely-known actress, but she is well known for her portrayal as Satan in Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ”. Figured she’d be a good reference for some sculpting practice. C&C welcome!

Finally figured out how to embed vids onto the posts. I’ll be uploading more turntables with each sculpt.

Thanks, prahlad333! Took a look at your thread, great work!

Watched some inspiring timelapse vids on youtube and roughed this guy out in almost an hour. Sculpted and rendered in ZBrush, composited in Photoshop Elements. Enjoy!

Hey, y’all!

Soooo wasn’t quite sure how to post this on here without accidentally spoiling the Super 8 movie for anyone. I’m hoping it doesn’t.

Anywho, this is my rendition of the Super 8 alien (nicknamed by JJ and the crew, “Cooper”). No references, simply working from memory of seeing it only once. So it’s probably off quite a bit.

Used the generic head included in Scott Spenser’s Character Creation book. Practice on form. Comments/critiques welcome!

Here’s an updated render of the previous alien used with the rendering settings shared by a user on this site (I wish I could remember the name…). Anywho, many thanks!

Hello!
Finally figured out how to do screen recordings WITH audio through Quicktime! Didn’t realize Quicktime even did screen recordings…

Anywho, might be a little long-winded, but it’s a simple little vid demonstrating a bit of Scott Spencer’s ZBrush to Photoshop compositing. Very basic, primarily for anyone looking for a visual on the subject. The model used is that of Neville Page’s sea creature he sculpts in the “Creative Character Design Techniques” DVD tutorial. It’s $60 on the Gnomonology website - VERY worth it!

Hello everyone!

I’m back with a new creature. Basic concept doodled in a notebook during class the other week. I’m looking forward to posing this guy but he’s currently a dynamesh. Retopology will not work. How can I create a lower base mesh for posing and then reproject the details? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Happy ZBrushing!

If I understand the problem all you have to do is turn off dynamesh and then you should be able to do a ZSphere retopo. If that doesn’t work we’re gonna need more info.
