beginning a sketchbook

maybe someone can help me.

i’m searching for a special thread… it was a soldiergirl nowadays.
her top was incredible sculpted. with very accurate strokes… maybe someone remembers…
if not, maybe someone can help me. i search a way to make a cotton-pattern… it must be very accurate… maybe someone has an idea…

hey there guys.

some reworks of my old models you find all over my thread.
its all done in zbrush with some layer work and overpaint, but nothing special.

please let me know what you think!

hello folks,

here we go again.

some very rough practice-sketch-heads. mostly sculpted out of a cube within 30-60 minutes. the most difficult area for me is the eye…

just practicing.

and one anatomy-practice again… i use references from fight club, but it looks unnatural, i think…

man… hope, you are happy now… http://zbrushcentral.com/zbc/images/smilies/mad.gif

Hey wethand, nice sculpts. I like the grinning guy :+1:

Looks like a solid use of claytubes overall.

The last guy… the lats don’t seem to be present enough leaving what appears to be negative space betweent he tricep and the lat, especially in the front view. Also, the clavicle is a bit curvy with a fair amount of depression behind it.

But hey… it’s a quicksculpt and being Zbrush these are easily improved.

Hey wethand! Cool sketchbook man! That last pic (grin) is great, and I love the reworks; cool characters! :+1: ! Lookin’ forward to seeing the updates on the anatomy study (man, I hate anatomy! )

oh hey guys,

maaaaany thanks for the replys!!! THANKS!!!

@ captain sensible:
thanks man. yeah, the only colored and layered pic… thanks. i am happy you like it

@ jbuck
: many thanks for the hints. i tried to improve that areas.

@ etcher: thanks man! here is the update. i want to make this more than just a study… i already have a pic in my mind…

his clothes are just quick placeholders. i need to finish his anatomy first.

and yeah. i am looking a lot on the top-row-guile…
no, i’ll never reach his quality, but it is awesome for reference (beside my own fight-club-reference)

here we go with the update:

[progress2.jpg]progress2_back.jpg

Hey Jan, very cools models here,
I love the snail man especially - awesome, one suggestion:turn his shell/cap a little so it’s more visible.

Your work is very unusual!
The tall green guy with the teddy and the skinny alien are my favourites.

Cool man, curious whe’re you’re going to come out with this one! :+1: !

hey there guys,

many thanks for the comments!

here is an update on the bad guy and a new speedsculpt…

hey there guys,

thank you very much for your comments!

@Geert_Etcher_Melis: no problem, hope it helped…

here is a new thing. finished up the speedalien and composed it in photoshop with a little paintover and a little picture.

[keeper1.jpg](javascript:zb_insimg(‘131569’,‘keeper1.jpg’,1,0))

This looks pretty sweet man. :+1:

I like it. Didn´t see you´ve made something new.
Jetzt weiss ich was Du gemacht hast, als Du mit mir über Hände geredet hast. Right?

hey there,
thanks for your comments! thanks jack daniels.

and moni: nops, war nur so allgemein bemerkt, das hände ne’ scheisssache zu sculpten sind… erst danach hab ich mit diesem krüppel angefangen.

so, here is a new hour-sculpting with a quick polypaint.
sculpted out of a sphere

just practice, but i start to feel the facial anatomy. it’ coming (slowly)

[

That’s very good! Especially from a sphere.

Consider adding eyeballs at an early stage (or you might already have some). They can be used an an anchor for your anatomy and help shape the eye socket and lids. And remember… if you’re going for realism they’re only about 1" in diameter and slightly elongated front to back.

You have all the main structures of the ear but a little pushing and pulling and they’d compliment the head better. Specifically the anti-helix is a bit thick and the anti-tragus is mostly absent.

Sorry for the crit… this was meant to be encouraging.

hey josh,

this is such a great help! thanks a lot.
every helpful crit is appreciated!

like i said. practice, practice practice. thats the only thing that helps me

with the eye-size… thats a big problem for me.
but hey, i practice and i will improve my skill.

here is a new speedsculpt: again from a sphere (i think this is the best practice. you get a special feeling for proportions)

this time its something out of my head. just for fun. needed 1 hour again. thats, why its so rough.
and just a quick overpaint

Hi wethand! Welcome to facial anatomy  ! The head looks good man! The cat sculpt went very well imo! I think you did a very good job at blocking in the basic shapes: the 3/4 front and side views look great! :+1:
