Beginner Q about Alphas

Hello. Got a somewhat strange question that I cannot seem to find an answer to anywhere online. Hopefully I can explain clearly what I am looking for.

How do I know the actual filename of an alpha that a brush is currently using?

The brush box shows the brush name. The material box shows the material name. The texture box shows the texture name. The stroke… etc. But the alpha box only shows “brush alpha.” When I hover over the icon is just says “current alpha” and again “brush alpha” underneath. When I go into the alpha flyout panel, the current brush alpha is placed at the end of the flyout. However, it just says “brush alpha.” When I try to hover over that alpha in the flyout menu, it pops-up the usual window but where the name of the alpha would be, i.e, “alpha 10,” I still get “brush alpha” where the name should be.

Try this. Choose the dam_standard brush. Turn off the alpha. Now go pick another brush. After that brush has been picked, go back and choose the dam_standard brush. It is still missing the alpha but since I have no idea the actual filename of the alpha it normally uses, I can’t re-add that alpha to the brush unless I close the program. There has got to be a better way than this. Especially since I like to try different alphas with different brushes.

It seems true that the alphas that are saved with the brushes have no names. But you can return to the default without restarting Zbrush with the menus restart all brushes in the brush palette. Also if you are going to do modifications in a default brush but want to keep the original you can clone it.
